Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that he would have loved to play more of the T20 format. The format was invented in 2003 in England and by the time India adopted it, it was too late for Ganguly to make any splash in it.
He forego a chance to play in the ICC World T20 2007 along with Dravid and Tendulkar and never played an official T20I match. However, he did appear in 59 IPL matches, scoring 1,349 runs at an average of 25.40. He led the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2008 and then again in 2010, before moving to Pune Warriors for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Talking to Mayank Agarwal in a video posted by the BCCI, Ganguly said, "No, T20 is very important, I would have changed my game, although I did play for the first five years of the IPL, the license to keep swinging and keep hitting, so I think I would have enjoyed T20 cricket.”
Ganguly called time on his illustrious international career in 2008 after playing 311 ODIs and 113 Tests for India. He captained the team from 2000-2005 and is credited with transforming the Indian team around after the match-fixing scandal. Under his leadership, India defeated Pakistan in Pakistan for the first time in a Test series and reached the finals of the 2003 World Cup.
