Former Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga's innings in the 2011 World Cup final is under scanner after ex-Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage alleged that Sri Lanka cricket team fixed the match.
Recently, Aravinda De Silva, the former national selection committee chairman, was questioned by the Sri Lankan police on Tuesday.
Tharanga had scored 2 runs off 20 balls before getting dismissed by Zaheer Khan. He also appeared before the Special Investigation Unit on Wednesday, as per a report in newsfirst.lk.
When the news surfaced on social media, a fan reacted to the post and called Tharanga a 'shit' player. In everyone's surprise, the Upul reacted to the post very politely.
"This is ridiculous. Anyone who has seen this guy's career can vouch that 22-delivery 2 runs in the CWC11 final has nothing to with fixing. The guy is just a shit player. ????," the fan wrote. To which, Tharanga replied, "Omg Thank you".
