Former Pakistan captain and chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its medical staff for their “bad attitude” towards the country’s COVID-19 positive players.
After Rashid Latif, Inzamam has also criticized the PCB and its team management for their poor approach in handling the Pakistan players during the COVID-19 pandemic that left as many as 10 out of the 29 England-bound Pakistan cricketers positive for the Coronavirus.
The Pakistan squad will leave for England on June 28 without these COVID-19 players to play three Tests and as many T20 Internationals starting in August and even the PCB told all of them to self-isolate at their homes instead of properly look after the infected players.
Criticizing PCB's overall approach, Inzamam revealed that the board's medical staff ignored calls of the players who were tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The COVID-19 positive players are Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wahab Riaz.
Inzamam said on his YouTube channel on Friday (June 26): “My sources have told me that the PCB's medical staff did not attend calls of these players for two days, which is a really bad attitude. The players were sent home, I felt they should have been taken care of. The players who have tested positive would have thought that PCB is not supporting them at this difficult time.”

He also requested the PCB to properly look after these COVID-19 infected players, otherwise, the incidents like Mohammed Hafeez who claimed he had tested negative after being privately tested will happen in the team.
Inzamam also suggested the board keep all these infected players at the NCA instead of sending back to their homes and look after them properly so that they can fully recover since they are country’s players.
The batting great further added, “I would request the PCB to properly look after these players because if you don't then incidents, like Hafeez getting himself tested privately, will happen.”
Inzamam signed off by saying, “PCB should have kept these players (who tested positive) at the NCA, because there is enough space there, rather than telling them to self-isolate at their homes. They are our players and we need to look after them so that they can fully recover.”
