Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday (June 19) announced a 24-member squad for the second “Residential Training Camp” starting on the 22nd of June at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
The Islanders would be strictly adhering to the health regulations imposed by the Sri Lankan Government in view of the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic during the training camp.
Lasith Malinga, Sri Lanka’s T20I captain, will not be part of the team’s 10-day training camp which will be supervised by a six-member unit of coaches and other support staff at the Pallekele stadium, where they will work on player conditioning and enhancing skills.
The training squad members will continue to follow the health procedures, which were adhered to during the first “Residential Training Camp” conducted earlier this month in Colombo in Kandy as well.
However, Sri Lanka’s next international engagement is yet to be finalized after India canceled next month’s tour while Bangladesh tour scheduled for late July is still doubtful due to the COVID-19 crisis.
