Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra recently picked the best Test XI from the current cricketers. While he added a lot of prominent names in his team, Kane Williamson missed out in the team.

Chopra named Tom Latham of New Zealand and India's rising star opener Mayank Agarwal for the first two spots. Agarwal has played 9 Tests and he averages 67.07 with three hundred and half-centuries each.

With no surprise, Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, and Joe Root were placed at numbers 3, 4, and 5. Kohli is preferred for the captaincy role. All three of them are considered as competitors for the best batsman's tag in Test cricket.

Virat is ranked second in the ICC Test rankings, while Joe Root dropped to number 8 in the last update. Smith is at the top with a rating of 911, 25 more than the Indian captain.

England's Ben Stokes secured the role of an all-rounder in Chopra's best Test XI. He has proved his worth with time and his name in the side was also expected.

Another Kiwi, BJ Watling missed out in the side as Aakash picked Quinton de Kock over him because of his aggression.

Overall, Aakash picked three quality pacers, Aussie speedster Pat Cummins, New Zealand’s Neil Wagner, and India’s Jasprit Bumrah. To complete the side, he also added arguably the best spinner in Test cricket currently, Nathan Lyon.

Aakash Chopra’s current Test XI: Tom Latham, Mayank Agarwal, Steve Smith, Virat Kohli (C), Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Quinton de Kock (WK), Pat Cummins, Neil Wagner, Jasprit Bumrah, Nathan Lyon

Reserves: Babar Azam, Marnus Labuschagne, BJ Watling, Stuart Broad
