Vidarbha fast bowler Umesh Yadav started his career under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and now he became the crucial part of the Indian Test line-up and one of the potent pace attacks in the world now.
The 32-year-old is a key member of India’s pace bowling unit comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ishant Sharma.
Recently, Yadav admitted that he learnt a lot under his first captain Dhoni and now that stuff he is using in his game playing under current India captain Virat Kohli.
Umesh told IANS: “I started my career under the guidance of Mahi Bhai. As people call him, he was surely Captain Cool. I learnt a lot from him which I am using right now under the leadership of Virat.”
The pacer further went on to call Kohli a “great captain” while saying the Indians players are more committed to the team than ever, thanks to the captain’s aggressive approach.
He further added, “Virat is also a great captain, he is aggressive and because of him the whole team now thinks alike. Our body language, our mindset, everything matches, so yes, it is fun to play under him and we are committed to the team more than ever.”
Umesh also admitted a healthy competition among the pacers since all the bowlers have been playing well and due to which, he is improving his bowling every day to match up with the competition.
He further added, “Our bowling attack is quite strong right now and all the bowlers are playing well, so there is surely a healthy competition in the team among the fast bowlers. I see to it that I practice and improve my bowling every day to match up with the competition.”
The pacer is also hoping that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic ends as soon as possible so that they can return the cricketing action which has been suspended since mid-March.
Umesh signed off by saying, “Due to this pandemic we didn't play too much cricket this year, but I hope this pandemic gets over very soon and we all get back to our routine life and get back to playing cricket.”
