Australia’s prolific batsman Steve Smith was highly impressed with India’s middle-order batsman KL Rahul, who has now become one of the mainstays of the Men in Blue’s star-studded batting line-up that has world-class beaters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Rahul, who has played 36 Tests, 32 ODIs, and 42 T20Is so far for India, has emerged a consistent performer for India especially after the last Australia home series in the limited-overs cricket.

However, the Karnataka batsman is struggling to cement his place in India’s Test line-up but is now seems a regular in the white-ball squad with his consistent performances in the format – for which he has received a lot of applaud from many and now managed to earn high praise from Smith.

Recently, amid the COVID-19 crisis, former Australia captain Smith held a Q/A session on Instagram where he spoke about several things relating to the game of cricket.

During the Instagram session, Smith has rated Rahul as the most impressive India player while Ravindra Jadeja as the best fielder presently. On being asked about which Indian player has impressed him the most, the ace batsman said: “KL Rahul. Very good player!”

Smith, one of the best modern-day batting legends, has also termed MS Dhoni as “legend” while he called Kohli is a “freak” when it comes to batting ability.

He is also excited for the forthcoming much-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy to be played at Adelaide Oval, MCG and the SCG starting December 3, saying “Can't wait. Going to be awesome”.

The No. 1 Test batsman has also rich praise for the Indian batting great Rahul Dravid, saying: “what a lovely gentleman and seriously good player.”

Hailing the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he plays for Rajasthan Royals, Smith signed off by saying, “Tough to beat the IPL. Playing with and against the best players from around the world.”
