Ex-India batsman VVS Laxman admitted his former teammate Ashish Nehra was someone who had a never give up attitude. Nehra, despite numerous injuries in his career, always had belief in himself.

The Delhi speedster made a comeback to the side and featured in World Cup 2011 too. But had to make way for young pacers. He then got included in the T20 squad for India's tour to Australian in 2016 and his performance ensured the left-arm plays another World Cup.

Nehra's performance in T20 World Cup 2016 was very impressive and he was named in the team of the tournament by ICC.

“A fragile body suggested a brief pace-bowling career, but Ashish Nehra battled through the pain barrier to keep bouncing back as a white-ball master,” the former right-handed batsman said.

“Repeated comebacks from injury were rewarded with a World Cup winner’s medal in 2011 and a fitting farewell aged 38,” he added.

Nehra retired after playing a farewell T20I against New Zealand on 1 November 2017 in front of his home crowd in Delhi.
