"He batted like he doesn't care about result in death overs," Rahul Dravid lauds MS Dhoni's finishing abilities

Dhoni's ability to finish the match in his prime was a huge trouble for opposition.

Ex-India captain Rahul Dravid lauded MS Dhoni's batting during his peak time. He said the then youngster used to bat in the death overs like results had very less value for him.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Dravid said that being less worried about the result helps players dig out the best from him, something which came naturally to Dhoni.

"You watch MS Dhoni play during the backend of a match when he was at his best, you always felt like that he is doing something really important to him but he is playing it like the result does not really matter to him," Dravid told Sanjay Manjrekar during a videocast hosted by ESPNCricinfo.

"I think you need to have that or you need to train for it. It is a skill that I never had. The consequences of any decision mattered to me. It would be interesting to ask MS Dhoni that is this something that has come naturally to him or did he work on this during his career," he added.

Dhoni may have seen a decline in his ability to finish the game in the last few years, but when he had joined the team, it was his job to seal the deal for the team. He used to enjoy it and the power-hitter earned the title of 'best finisher' over the years.

Coming good with the bat in pressure situation was Dhoni's habit and death overs were his forte. But lately, the wicket-keeper batsman has faced a lot of flak for not being the same force he was once. We hardly got to see clutches from Dhoni in the last few years.
