Bangladesh’s out-of-favor all-rounder Sabbir Rahman can’t stay away from controversies for long, as he has yet again landed himself in a fresh controversy that he had reportedly 'beat up' a garbage hauler in front of his house for which the right-hander is facing the heat on social media.
The 28-year-old, who made his Bangladesh debut against England in 2016, was accused of thrashing a garbage hauler in front of his house at the Rajshahi City Corporation, as well as, involved in a verbal spat and assaulting a cleaner. The incident took place on Sunday (May 31) around 5 PM.

He has also reportedly slapped that individual cleaner and then a few cleaners started creating a ruckus. It is being said that Sabbir apologized after the police got the situation under control.
Well, the all-rounder has now come up with a clarification regarding the matter, claiming that he merely asked the person to move his truck off the road and honked, to which the person overacted that led to just an argument between the two while dismissing the rumors of slapping.
Rahman was quoted as saying by bdcrictime: “There was a garbage truck in front of my house. I was coming home with my wife. I said, ‘Brother, you have left your car in the middle of the road, no one will be able to come and go.’ If a patient wants to go now and you’re gossiping leaving the car in that way.”

He further explained, “Please don’t leave the car like this, keep it aside from the middle. I just said this. As soon as I sounded the horn, he reacted as if I had done something very wrong. His eyes were horrible and he’s muttering. I found it very strange. I said- brother, are you saying something? Why are you talking like this? I didn’t say anything bad. He told me- I am doing my job, who are you to say, why are you blowing the horn. That’s all, there just a little argument, nothing more.”
The all-rounder was also disappointed with the treatment given to him on social media over the incident. He signed off by saying, “I played for Bangladesh, I represented the country. If I deserve it, I have no interest in playing for the country. Cricket is my love, it’s my life. And I’m swearing to cricket that I didn’t beat that person. Past is past. I have learned a lot from the past. The ongoing rumors are baseless and nothing of such sorts has happened. It’s not easy to hit a person,”
Noteworthy, Rahman was omitted from Bangladesh’s Asia Cup squad in 2018 and was banned from international cricket for six months for multiple disciplinary breaches including physically assaulting a young fan during a National Cricket League match.
