Social media takes no time to spread a hoax and that is what happened with MS Dhoni when #DhoniRetires started to trend out of nowhere. There was no official announcement from Dhoni's side on his future.
Rumormongers took Twitter to spread false news and that is when Sakshi Dhoni came up with a sharp response to rumors. “Its only rumours! I understand lockdown has made people mentally unstable! #DhoniRetires .. Get a life!,” Sakshi had tweeted and later deleted it.

On Sunday, she talked about the rumors with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) presenter Rupha Ramani. “He keeps such a low profile and now during the lockdown, he has zero social media presence, so I don’t know where all this comes from. Mahi and I, don’t follow up on news or social media,” Sakshi told Ramani.
“That day when the hashtag was trending, a close friend of mine had forwarded it to me saying ‘what is this going on?’ She knew we wouldn’t respond but something happened that day. The job was done, the message was sent,” Sakshi added.
Dhoni has played for India since the World Cup 2019 exit and his return was certain in Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. But COVID-19 pandemic has now deferred it for a while.
“We, of course, miss CSK, still wondering whether IPL going to happen or not. My daughter also asking ‘when it will happen?’ Let’s see…,” Sakshi said.
“If there is a cricket, there will be cricket. But Mahi and I have planned to hit the hills. We are planning to go to Uttarakhand, stay in small villages. We will take road trips that are safe. No flights,” she revealed her plans.
