India not keen on playing T20I series in Australia, claims report

Indian team is scheduled to play three T20Is during the upcoming tour of Australia.

The T20I series between India and Australia is due to take place from October 11 to October 17 | AFPCricket Australia on Thursday (May 28) unveiled a full international schedule for the 2020-21 home season. The anticipated arrival of Team India to play the Australian men’s teams across all formats is among the highlights scheduled for this summer.

Virat Kohli and company are slated to play four Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is on their tour down under. But according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the T20I series may not happen considering the global lockdown due to Coronavirus.

As of now, India is to play three T20Is from October 11 to October 17 while the Test and ODI series are due to take place from December 3 to January 17.

As per the report, Indian team is not keen to travel to Australia twice in a span of three months. With the travel requirements needing the players to go in quarantine for two weeks, the T20I series looks out of question.

Moreover, the BCCI recently said that it would consider staging the IPL 2020 in October-November window if the T20 World Cup, which is slated to be held in Australia during those months, did not go ahead due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, CA may also have to reconsider dates for the Day-Night Test in Adelaide from December 11. This could be because there is only a four-day gap from the first Test in Gabba, and Indian captain Virat Kohli had previously mentioned that his troops would need a practice game before the pink-ball affair.
