Millions of migrants in India were left empty-handed and without help as the COVID-19 pandemic swept India. The migrants working away from their families were looking to find a way to return to their homes, but with all modes of public transport on hold and borders closed off by governments, impatience was spreading in between them.
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has taken the onus to rescue the thousands of migrant workers who are stranded in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Sood, popular for his villainous characters in movies, turned out to be a real-life hero for thousands as he hired busses to ply back people to their home towns.
