India opener Shikhar Dhawan had started his Test career with a bang. It was like a huge explosion that the opponent, Australia couldn't stand.
Dhawan had created a record in his debut match with a score of 187 runs. It remains the highest score by an Indian batsman on Test debut. He had broken Lala Amarnath's record which was set in 1933.

The India batsman rates it as one of his best knocks and added the opposition which it came against makes it even more special.
During a live chat with Sri Lanka cricketer Angelo Mathews on Instagram, he said, "That was one of my best innings and I played a knock of 187 in my debut Test, scoring against Australia is always a big thing coming from an Asian team, it always carries a lot of weightage, I enjoyed playing their fast bowlers and I enjoyed playing in Mohali," Dhawan told Mathews.
"I was timing the ball so nicely, there was a rhythm to my innings, I did not know that I created a record for scoring the fastest century in the debut Test match," he added.
Dhawan also secured the record of the fastest Test century on debut. He batted in that innings with a strike rate of 100. Later, in the same year, Rohit Sharma made his Test debut and came close to Dhawan's score. But he was dismissed on 177 runs against West Indies.
