Veteran Indian batsman Robin Uthappa has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow Indian players to play in the overseas domestic franchise T20 leagues.

It is known to everyone that the Indian male cricketers are barred by the BCCI from participating in T20 leagues across the world except their own Indian Premier League (IPL) and Uthappa said it “hurts” when “we're not allowed” to “learn and grow” as much as possible playing in the overseas leagues.

A few days ago, Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan argued regarding the same and now Uthappa pleaded the BCCI to lift the restriction from playing overseas T20 leagues.

Uthappa said on the BBC's Doosra podcast, “Please let us go, honest to God. It does hurt when we're not allowed to go and play ... It would be so nice if we could go and play at least a couple of others because as a student of the game you want to learn and grow as much as you can.”

However, the Rajasthan Royals’ batsman hopes that the new BCCI President Sourav Ganguly could do wonders in this matter given his 'progressive' outlook.

Uthappa signed off by saying, “Ganguly is a very progressive thinking human being, someone who has always looked to take India to the next level. He actually laid the foundation for where India cricket is now. We're hoping that he will look at this at some point.”
