Ganguly saves a mango tree uprooted by Cyclone Amphan at home; fans link it to 2002 NatWest final

Cyclone Amphan, one of the extremely severe cyclonic storms, wreaked havoc in the Indian state of West Bengal and Odisha on Wednesday (May 20) with the catastrophic storm of 160 to 180 kilometers per hour causing a lot of destruction in several coastal districts.

The severe storm has caused a huge loss of life and property apart from damaging power and telecom infrastructure, affecting over 4.5 million people across the several districts of Bengal and Odisha.

Former India skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly among those who were affected by the powerful storm, but he was fortunate that the only damage caused by the super-cyclone was the uprooting of a mango tree at his house in the Behala area of Kolkata.

However, Dada, who is confined to his home in Kolkata due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, managed to save the age-old tree at his house which got uprooted due to the cyclone.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday (May 21), Ganguly shared a couple of pictures to reveal the details of the damage the cyclone caused at his home, where he along with his family members can be seen fixing that uprooted mango tree to its position.

He captioned the post on Twitter: “The mango tree in the house had to be lifted, pulled back and fixed again…strength at its highest.”

Soo after the BCCI chief shared the post, fans hailed Dada for showcasing another display of 'strength at its highest' in such dire times on Twitter, while linking the latest photo with their one of favorite cricketing memories – a shirt-swirling celebration of Ganguly after the famous NatWest 2002 series triumph at Lord’s.
