Australian batting legend Ricky Ponting had always had a fascination with bats and has kept most of his willows till now. However, there is one particular bat which was his all-time favorite and with which he made five international centuries, including two special ones.
Ponting shared the photos of a worn-out bat, with which he scored two centuries in his 100th Test, becoming the first and only batsman to do so in Test history. He also made his highest ODI score of 164, in the epic match against South Africa, in which the barrier of 400 runs by a team was breached for the first time.
"Can’t forget Ricky Ponting sledging Me in Ashes 2005", Andrew Flintoff recalls Edgbaston incident
"Five international hundreds with this baby, four of them against South Africa. The 120 and 143* were made in my 100th Test at the SCG. And the 164 was made in the famous 434 v 438 ODI at the Wanderers. Used it for as long as I could and as you can see it's pretty worn out," Ponting tweeted with the photos.
Ponting scored 27,486 runs for Australia in his international career and also led his country in all three formats. No Australian has scored more international centuries than the former skipper. He also led the team to two World Cup wins in 2003 and 2007, while winning the 1999 World Cup as part of Steve Waugh’s Australian team.
