Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Matthew Hayden has backed MS Dhoni to make the right call on his career. Hayden knows the ex-India captain for a long time and he feels Dhoni wouldn't stretch his retirement once he is convinced it's time to hang up his boots.

“It’s always very hard as a personal friend of MS to comment on his career,” Hayden told IANS. “I think every champion, and I consider MS to be a champion, always knows enough time to put themselves out of the game and not feeling that forced feeling of getting towards the end of the career when the time is ticking,” Hayden told IANS.

“I am sure he will make the best decision for himself as he has done throughout his whole career.”

Ex-team India chief selector MSK Prasad had hinted they have started to think beyond Dhoni. But head coach Ravi Shastri hadn't ruled out the possibility of the 38-year-old's comeback to the side.

Shastri made it clear that Dhoni's career depends a lot on IPL and it can help him make a return to the side with good performance. 

The Coronavirus pandemic has not let the cash-rich league take place as per schedule. The Aussie talked about the chances of IPL happening this year. 

“Certainly, the IPL could take exist without foreign players. I think it would be a product that is being compromised naturally because foreign players do add a lot to the IPL. They raise the level of awareness and excitement among fans. Getting nations together has in fact made IPL the fun that it has been.

“But in conditions like this, it could go on without foreign players and it should go on if all health issues have been uncompromised and the game can proceed in clean stadiums.”
