The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to hold an all-important video conference meeting with the board members and all the stakeholders of the affiliated member boards on May 28.
With the sporting world, including cricket coming to a standstill due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the last couple of months have been challenging for all the cricket boards across the globe as they have suffered huge financial losses because of the no cricketing action due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is still no clarity on when cricketing activities will resume again but the cricket’s governing body’s upcoming meeting would clear many things about the cricketing future.
It is being said that the ICC Board is will discuss the possibility of resumption of cricket, the roadmap and plan a strategy for the future, as well as, could also take a call on the fate of the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020 to be held in Australia in October-November on May 28.
One of the top officials from a member board said: “There has been no cricket for two months now. There is no clarity on how things will pan out. The finances too are hit, so we have a lot to discuss.”

Another one close to the development said: “Being one of the major boards, the BCCI will take every initiative to revive international cricket along with the other boards. There would be some proposals, which need to be discussed. A lot of focus will be on the revenue generation model. That’s something all the member boards will be focusing on.”
Meanwhile, there is uncertainty over the future of the marquee event in Australia that the T20 World Cup 2020 can go ahead as per schedule in October-November and a senior BCCI official said, “It’s too early to comment on anything. All the boards have suffered, so there has to be a collective decision.”
On the other hand, almost the entire world is under lockdown including the cricketers who have not trained for at least the last two months, and the issue is expected to be discussed by the Anil Kumble-led ICC cricket committee in the upcoming meeting later this month.
