Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has had a remarkable maiden Big Bash League (BBL) 2019-2020 season with Melbourne Stars led by Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in Australia.
The fast-bowler had joined the Melbourne Stars as a replacement for the injured Dale Steyn and went on to finish as a shining overseas star in Australia’s T20 franchise tournament with 20 wickets from his 10 innings at an economy rate of 7.06 with the best bowling figure of 5/27.

Recently, the 26-year-old attributed his BBL success to his captain Maxwell, saying the Aussie helped in building his confidence as well as the way he supported him throughout the tournament that eventually led him to finish his maiden BBL season on high.
As per reports in PakPassion.net, Rauf said: “I feel that coach David Hussey and captain Glenn Maxwell's confidence in my abilities was the key factor in my excellent performances in the BBL.”
The pacer further added, “Maxwell had extraordinary confidence in my ability to bowl and used me where I was of most use to the team. He went out of his way to support me whilst we were on the field and for my part, I repaid him by bowling to the plan and to the fields he set for me.”

Meanwhile, Rauf revealed that the South Africa speedster Steyn, with whom he got the dream opportunity to share the Stars dressing room in the BBL, has been his role model ever since he started playing cricket and the short stint in Australia helped him a lot to learn few things from the ace pacer.
The Pakistani pacer further added, “Dale Steyn has been my role model ever since I started to play cricket and to be in the same team as him at the BBL was absolutely thrilling. I was very happy to meet him, and I can tell you that he is a wonderful teacher. He gave me tips in the nets and gave me a lot of advice about how to go about my game and what attitude to adopt.”
Rauf signed off by saying, “In particular, he told me about the aggression that I need to have as a fast bowler and since then I have tried to adopt that attitude for myself.”
