India’s historical and memorable triumph in the 2002 Natwest Trophy in England is still regarded as one of the biggest victories in the history of Indian cricket.

Sourav Ganguly and his troops pulled off a miraculous 2-wicket win over England at Lord’s in the final of the ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka as well.

Chasing a mammoth total of 326 at the Home of Cricket on July 13, 2002, India had already lost half of their side for 140 odd runs,  but the tourists brilliantly recovered from 146-5, thanks to Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh’s brilliant partnership of a 121-run partnership for the sixth wicket to guide India to a memorable win over the hosts England.

Well, it was definitely a historical triumph for India, and former captain Sourav Ganguly made it even more memorable and remarkable with waving his jersey around his head at the Lord’s balcony in order to celebrate the team’s triumph over England at their own home ground.

On the other hand, the loss was heartbreaking for the then England captain Nasser Hussain who hit a knock of 115 off 128 balls in the final – his maiden ODI ton.

He still doesn't allow his mind to go back 12 years to that fascinating NatWest Series Final defeat to India at Lord’s.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has on Wednesday (May 6) has decided to refresh the memory of the cricket lovers amid the COVID-19 lockdown by sharing a picture of India’s 2002 Natwest Trophy victory on Twitter and asked fans to guess the match.

The ICC tweeted: “Scenes, Can you tell us which dramatic win the Indians are celebrating.”

As soon as one sees the picture, the cricket fans recognized the image and started commenting on the post, but it was Hussain’s comment that left fans in split, as the former captain said “NO”.

It seems that the current commentator doesn’t want to remember England’s NatWest Series Final defeat to India way back in 2002 at Lord’s.
