R Ashwin shares his top three career moments across all formats

Ashwin has represented India in 71 Tests, 111 ODIs and 46 T20Is so far.

Ravichandran Ashwin | GettyHaving made his international debut in 2010, India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has come a long way. In 111 ODIs, he has claimed 150 wickets at an average of 32.91 while his T20I record reads – 52 scalps from 46 games at an economy rate of 6.97.

Particularly, Ashwin has proved his worth in the longest format. In 71 Tests, he has picked up 365 wickets at an impressive average of 25.43 with 27 five-wicket hauls.

Apart from his individual exploits, Ashwin has played a key role in some of India’s major triumphs in the last decade, including 2013 Champions Trophy win, Test series victories in Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia among others.

Therefore, picking the best moments from Ashwin’s glittering career is a tough task. But the man himself on Tuesday (May 5) singled out his top moments from each format.

“For T20s, it was surely my ball against Hashim Amla. For ODIs, the win in the Champions Trophy final in 2013. For Tests, I will go with the man of the series award in the away series against West Indies,” Ashwin said during an interaction on 100 Hours 100 Stars, an initiative started by Fever Network.

When asked to choose his favourite colleagues, Ashwin took the names of three teammates and one team staff.

“Cheteshwar Pujara for sure. I like Shikhar Dhawan too as he is a lot of fun. I used to like Shankar Basu (former Head Strength and Conditioning Coach) a lot. Also Virat as he can have interesting conversations all the time,” he answered.

Ashwin also revealed that he is an avid collector of souvenirs and his house is filled with them.

“Every time I get a five wicket haul, the match ball ends up safely in my cabinet. Every time I produce an impactful performance, I take a stump. So my house is actually filled with souvenirs. I have played 71 Tests and I think I have collected around 60 souvenirs.”
