Australia’s latest batting sensation Marnus Labuschagne is aiming to break it into the national T20I squad after having proved himself in the other two formats of the game.

The 25-year-old has been making the news ever since he burst into the international scene – made a debut in 2018 in Test cricket, scoring 1459 runs in just 14 appearances for Australia in whites and earlier this year, he finally got the opportunity to sport ODI jersey in India.

He has played so far 7 ODIs and scored 305 runs with the right-hander averaging 63.43 in Tests and 50.83 ODIs and given that, the right-hander was awarded a central contract for the 2020–21 season.

Having played only 10 T20s so far, Labuschagne has revealed an ambition to play T20 cricket for Australia, as he is keen to become a star in all three formats of the game if he gets the chance in the shorter format.

Labuschagne said in a video interview: “By no means do I want to limit myself to only those two formats. I definitely have the ambition to play T20 cricket for Australia. I think by no means do I want to restrict myself to being only a two-format player, I think there's definitely ambition and drive to play T20 cricket.”

The all-rounder further added, “Obviously my opportunities have been minimal and with the schedule, it doesn't look like there might be too many other opportunities in that actual format. For me, it's about just scoring runs in one-day cricket and Test cricket for Australia and if I get opportunities down the road to make sure I take them.”

He has been constantly delivering with the bat since his debut but the South Africa-born batsman insisted that he didn’t felt any pressure to continue delivering.

Labuschagne signed off by saying, “For me, it's just about making sure that my processes, that I'm prepared, that I understand what the game requires and then to make decisions upon that. If that means that I get runs then that's great, and if that means I miss out for me it's just about going back to the chalkboard and understanding my game and making sure I continue to learn from that.”
