Punjab captain Mandeep Singh, who currently plays for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), recollected his memories with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) under Virat Kohli.

Mandeep said he had a good time with the franchise and sharing dressing room with players like Kohli and AB de Villiers. He stayed from 2015 to 2018 with RCB before moving to KXIP.

The 28-year-old said his mother wanted to have him the same fire in his eyes like Kohli. "My mother, even though she does not watch or follow too much cricket wanted to see the fire in Virat Kohli’s eyes in my eyes as well. Every match he scored runs, but he still wanted to score more. He didn’t stop. He never liked getting out, I learned a lot from that season," he recalled.

Mandeep is an admirer of Kohli's work ethics, and it impressed him the most. "The experience at RCB was phenomenal. I feel I am a hard-working guy but the first time I saw Virat Kohli, I realized I had to increase my intensity. He would not stay long hours in the gym, but at the end of every session, you could see that he had given it his all,” Mandeep told Sportskeeda.

Kohli put a lot emphasis on fitness and that has helped him over the years. Mandeep believes fitness plays a big role in the Indian captain's success.

"He (Virat Kohli) has the fire to score a lot of runs. I realized from Virat that you don’t need to hit only sixes, there’s a lot more than that. He’s consistent only because of his fitness. It’s his hunger to score runs. AB told me to learn that hunger from him and not only his technique,” Mandeep said.
