Dale Steyn picks his best XI; No Indian player makes the cut, school bowling partner included

Even former South Africa batsman AB de Villiers was not picked by Steyn.

South African pacer Dale Steyn recently picked the best XI according to him that Steyn has played against or played with. This team by the right-arm pacer consisted of his “school bowling partner”, “best friend" and his "club captain" said Cricket South Africa in a Tweet.

There were no Indian cricketers in this team as only Kumar Sangakkara and Brett Lee were the only two overseas players.

Steyn picked Sangakkara and Graeme Smith as openers with Jacques Kallis who is considered to be one of the greatest all-rounders to have played the game filled the No.4 slot and Jonty Rhodes, more known for his fielding was picked at No.5.

Current South African limited-overs skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock was selected after Rhodes at No.6. Former Australia pacer Brett Lee, former South African spinner Paul Harris and Proteas fast bowling great Allan Donald made up the bowling department.

While there were no Indians in the 36-year-old fast bowler’s team, even the former South Africa batsman AB de Villiers, Steyn has played a lot of international cricket with was also not picked in his XI.
