Dinesh Chandimal names his all-time Test XI; includes Tendulkar and Kohli

Chandimal tweeted his all-time Test XI which had five Sri Lankan players.

Hence many of them have come up with their all-time XIs in either of the three formats or combining them.

Former Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal joined the bandwagon and chose his all-time Test XI. He chose Alastair Cook of England to open with a surprise choice of Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. Though Cook made his name as perhaps the greatest opener in Tests, Tendulkar rarely opened in Tests, in fact, he opened just once and scored 15 runs. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara were picked by ChandimalNext come in Chandimal’s former teammate in Kumar Sangakkara, who will keep wickets and current India captain Virat Kohli. Brian Lara was chosen to bat at no.5, while Mahela Jayawardene was chosen at no.6 and will also captain Chandimal’s all-time Test XI. Jacques Kallis is the lone all-rounder in the team, while Dale Steyn and Chaminda Vaas were picked as the fast bowling options.

As for the spinners, two of Sri Lanka’s all-time greats and highest wicket-takers in the format, Rangana Herath and Muttiah Muralitharan were picked to finish the eleven players.

Talking of Chandimal, he has made 3877 runs in 57 Test matches at an average of 40.8.
