The 29-year-old is considered to be one of the most talented batsmen to come out of Pakistan, yet his attitude and behavior problems, coupled with fitness issues have meant that he has played just 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20Is since his debut in 2009. He has three centuries to his name in international cricket, with his only Test ton coming on his debut.

He had been suspended from taking part in any cricketing activity under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code and charged with two breaches of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in two unrelated incidents related to failure to report approaches made ‘to engage in corrupt conduct’.

He was also suspended from participating in the PSL 2020 a day before it was started. He was recently in news for stripping down naked in front of trainers and fitness experts at the NCA in Lahore after failing a fitness test conducted by the Pakistani board.

PCB in their official statement released on Twitter stated,” Umar Akmal handed three-year ban from all cricket by Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan.
