Yuvraj Singh wants to do commentary during the ICC events

No full-time commentary for Yuvraj as he "can’t tolerate some people in the box".

Yuvraj and Kaif recently had an Instagram Live session | Twitter/Instagram

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was one of the finest all-rounders India has ever produced in the game of cricket. The Punjab lad was instrumental in India's various memorable triumphs including the 2002 tri-series in England, 2007 T20 World Cup, and the 2011 World Cup.

Well, the legend had signed off from the gentlemen’s game last year after enjoying almost 25 years of cricket, though he isn’t in hurry to start his second innings in the game, but it would not be commentary at all, saying a coaching role will be his preferred choice over a commentary.

In an Instagram Live session with former India teammate Mohammad Kaif, Yuvraj revealed that he is not interested in taking up a commentary role on a full-time basis, as it would be difficult for him to criticize youngsters which the commentators often do and especially because of the some “certain people” whom he can’t tolerate in the commentary box.

However, the former all-rounder wants to try his hand at commentary during the ICC events, but still, a coaching stint might be a more possible job to take up in his second innings but he isn't in hurry to make any decision.

Yuvraj told Kaif during the Instagram Live session, “You can get along with people. I can’t tolerate some people in the commentary box (laughs). It really depends if a time comes when I want to commentate, I will. I want to do ICC events - T20 World Cup, ICC ODI World Cup. I don’t think I can do commentary all the time. I don’t have the patience to sit and talk about cricket all the time again. I won’t be able to do it,”

Explaining the reason, the cricketer said: “The player on the field knows what pressure he is facing. I don’t like criticizing young players. I have been in that place how it feels when people talk about you. This is why I don’t want to be a commentator. It is also necessary to tell youngsters what mistakes they are making. But we should strike a balance.”

Yuvraj signed off by saying about his future: “I will enjoy coaching more than commentary. Don't think commentary will be my fulltime role. Since retirement, it’s been almost a year. I have played cricket for 25-30 years. I want to take a break and then take a call.”
