New Zealand's Brendon McCullum lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) by scoring a superb unbeaten knock of 158 runs in just 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the very first match of the league in 2008.

When asked about the reactions he received after the knock, the Kiwi revealed that he just remembers what the KKR skipper Sourav Ganguly told him that night.

“I don’t remember many reactions in detail, but what I do remember is what Sourav Ganguly said to me that night. Dada said, ‘Your life is changed forever’, and I didn’t quite know what he meant at the time, but (in hindsight), I 100% agree with him,” McCullum said.

Tomorrow (18 April), it will be the 12th anniversary of that mind-blowing knock. The Kolkata based franchise reminded everyone about this fact by tweeting from their official Twitter handle.

The wicket-keeper batsman then talked about how he felt before that knock by saying, “Well, I never really got too nervous throughout my cricket career, but on that occasion, I’ll admit I was very nervous. I think none of us really knew what this tournament (the IPL) was going to be like. We all loved the idea of it.”

“It changed my family’s life forever, and I feel very blessed and very humble and very lucky. What I did that night was something I didn’t think I was capable of achieving. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, that’s 100% sure,” the swashbuckling batsman added.
