Legendary Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has numerous qualities to remember from being one of the most amazing, record-breaking and unpredictable cricketers to one of the most entertaining personalities both on and off the field.
With his unconventional technique and solid hand-eye coordination, Sehwag, Nawab of Najafgarh, is famous for his explosive batting across the formats in the world.
Recently, the former flamboyant batsman, who was known for his great hand-eye coordination with minimal footwork, revealed the real inspiration behind his swashbuckling batting technique and it was ‘Angad’ — a character in mythological epic ‘Ramayan’.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday (April 12), Sehwag shared a picture of Angad (part of vanar sena which helped Lord Ram in rescuing Sita from Lanka) from the epic tale and explained why the character is such an inspiration for him while revealing he took inspiration from this Ramayan's character.
Sehwag shared a photo of a scene from the iconic 'Ramayan' TV show – which is now being shown on Doordarshan amid the COVID-19 lockdown – where Angad is seen standing strong as one of Ravan's generals tries to move his feet as part of a challenge.

The legendary batsman wrote on Twitter with the screenshots: “So here is where i took my batting inspiration from. Pair hilana mushkil hi nahi , namumkin hai . #Angad Ji Rocks,”
Noteworthy, Sehwag played 251 ODIs and 104 Tests for India in which he scored 8,273 and 8,586 runs respectively in his illustrious cricketing career.
