The country has come to a standstill, with a 21-day lockdown imposed by the government because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But unlike many others, Indian middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav is not complaining and is using this as an opportunity to make up for the time not spent with his family when he was on national duty, especially with his five-year-old daughter.

"She was born around the same time when I made my debut for India," Kedar told TOI. "Over the years, I hardly got any time to spend with her. Now I am learning that she has grown into a smart girl, way smarter than I ever thought of."

"When I was young, myself, my three sisters and my parents used to make sure we had at least one meal together. This was one thing that faded with time. But since we have got an opportunity, we have started the practice again," added the 35-year-old, who has played 73 ODIs, 9 T20Is for India. 

This, not to suggest that Kedar isn't still batting for India, albeit for a different cause. Like his teammates, he too has made contributions towards the Maharashtra CM Relief Fund and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) as the state, and the nation fights the deadly outbreak. 

Working to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits and N95 masks to the doctors who are treating the Coronavirus patients in the rural areas of Maharashtra, apart from providing ventilators for the patients, the MCCIA is doing a wonderful job for the society in this phase. 

"I feel it is my duty too to contribute towards the cause, for the doctors, who are selflessly working day and night to save the lives of so many people," said Kedar, not disclosing the amount he has donated. "They are tirelessly working without even thinking twice. I think what we are doing is nothing in front of their efforts."
