Ishan Porel to distribute goods to needy and donates Rs 50,000 in fight against COVID-19 pandemic

As India continues to fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by enforcing a strict 21-day lockdown, the world’s second most populated country’s sudden decision has been devastating and badly harms the millions of migrant workers and the underprivileged section of the society in the country.

While India has large numbers of the poor living in the country, the three-week COVID-19 lockdown has put poor families at risk, leaving the migrant workers, laborers, and daily wage earners with facing hunger. However, the Indian government has announced a couple of schemes for them, but what if they don’t’ have a ration card, or some of them stuck somewhere.

Well, some organizations and individuals including cricketers such as Sourav Ganguly who recently donated 50 lakh’s rice in Kolkata, have been coming forward to help the needy in this time of Coronavirus crisis and now young Bengal pacer Ishan Porel joined the other in this noble cause.

Ishan on Wednesday (April 1) contributed Rs 50,000 in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic – Rs 20,000 each to the State Relief Fund and Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, and Rs 10,000 to a local hospital for buying masks, gloves, and sanitizers.

The 21-year-old also revealed that he is arranging basic food for the needy people and him along with his parents will be distributing the goods in the next two days to 100 people near his locality.

As per reports in PTI, Porel said: “We need to help people fight this dreaded disease in whatever way we can. I am doing my bit. I am also arranging basic food like rice, cereals, and grocery for 100 people near my locality who can't afford food because of this lockdown. They have been identified and my parents and I will be distributing the goods in the next two days.”

The talented pacer, who hails from Chandannagar, also urged the people to don’t get out of the house unnecessarily and stay home as well as cooperate with the government to defeat the COVID-19 virus.

He signed off by saying, “I am seeing on TV that people are still crowding the streets. They need to realize by doing this they are putting everybody's life in danger. I urge all to stay home and cooperate with our government in this grim battle to defeat this virus.”
