Smriti Mandhana asked to stay in home quarantine in her hometown Sangli

25 COVID-19 cases have been reported from her hometown.

Smriti Mandhana has been asked to home quarantine as a precautionary measure after her hometown sees an increase in COVID-19 positive patients.

Indian opener and T20I vice-captain Smriti Mandhana played in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final on March 8 in Melbourne and traveled to India two days later. She stayed in Mumbai till March 23 before going back home in Sangli.

Recently, 25 patients from the same family in Islampur, Sangli have been tested positive for the Coronavirus which was put the city in fear. To take preventive measures, the Sangli Municipal Corporation (MNC) has asked the batter to stay quarantined at home.

Sangli (MNC) Health Officer Dr. Ravindra Tate said, “Yes, we told Smriti Mandhana to stay in home quarantine on March 25. We are also keeping an update on her health on a daily basis. Amid Coronavirus pandemic, we are taking these precautionary steps. The health of the people in home quarantine is being checked by the doctors daily here.

While the number of COVID-19 patients in India has gone above 1400, close to 250 of them have been reported from the state of Maharashtra.
