David Hodgkiss, Chairman of Lancashire Cricket Club passes away due to COVID-19

Hodgkiss was 71-year-old and was the chairman of the club for the last 3 years.

Lancashire County Cricket Club chairman David Hodgkiss has passed away after contracting COVID-19.

The Coronavirus pandemic has had pretty negative effects on cricket, especially in Lancashire. While competitive cricket has been stopped everywhere in the world, it is going to stay that way for quite some time now.

Amidst all this, the Lancashire Country Cricket Club has lost its chairman, 71-year-old David Hodgkiss due to the widespread virus. Hodgkiss had been a member of the club for the last 22 years and was the chairman for the last 3 years.

Lancashire Cricket posted about his demise on Twitter:

They also released a statement that said, “Further to the announcement from his family, it is with great sadness that Lancashire Cricket announces the passing of its Chairman, David Hodgkiss OBE. David served the club with distinction over many years including holding the offices of treasurer, vice-chairman and latterly chairman. He was much loved by everyone at Lancashire Cricket Club and respected throughout the cricketing world.

Our sincere condolences and thoughts and prayers are with his family. A further statement will be released in due course but at this time we ask that everybody respects the family's privacy," it added.
