The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (March 27) conducted a meeting with all boards via video conferencing to discuss their plans for T20 World Cup, World Test Championship amid this Coronavirus pandemic which has brought the whole sporting world to a standstill.

According to a recent ICC release, “The impact of the pandemic on the sport globally was discussed.

We continue to undertake a comprehensive business continuity and contingency planning exercise which will allow us to adapt to the rapidly evolving world in which we find ourselves,” the ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney said.

While no final decision was taken on shifting tournaments, the management will be working with its members to explore every option available.

The ICC management will continue our contingency planning around ICC events and will also work with Members to explore all options available to us based on a range of scenarios connected to the pandemic,” he said.

The ICC is still looking for a proper way to distribute points as India will be playing 6 series, while England, on the other hand, will just be playing three series due to tight FTP.

It can’t happen unless an amicable solution is reached. You might have India playing six series and perched at the top and England get to play three due to lockdown and tight FTP schedule. You need a solution to the distribution of points and matter should be referred to the technical committee.”

A senior official then talked about ICC’s pan from June as he said, “If things are under control from June, we can then work on a specific contingency plan. Right now, ICC would be working on various plans and would come up with their proposals in the course of time.
