Sachin Tendulkar has contributed INR 50 Lakhs for the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Coronavirus has claimed over 22,000 lives all over the world and the numbers are still seeing an upward trend. In this time of a worldwide crisis, every nation is fighting its own internal battle in an attempt to curb the virus.

While India is so far suffering from over 700 positive cases, less than 20 patients have lost their fight against the virus.

"Simple things are often hardest to do," Sachin Tendulkar asks Indians to stay indoors for 21 days

However, the number of patients can rise exponentially in the country if preventive measures are not taken at the moment. This will require a lot of funding and the Indian sportsmen are contributing hugely with their donations to the government.

Indian cricketing legend and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar has contributed a total of 50 lakh Indian rupees (25 lakhs each to the Prime Minister Relief Fund and the Chief Minister Relief Fund).

A reliable source told PTI, “Sachin Tendulkar decided to contribute Rs 25 lakh each to Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Chief Minister's Relief Fund in his bid to join the fight against COVID-19. It was his decision that he wanted to contribute to both funds.

Tendulkar has made such donations whenever the country has required them. In the Indian sports fraternity, cricketers Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, wrestler Bajrang Punia and sprinter Hima Das are some of them who have contributed to fight COVID-19.
