Michael Vaughan feels that the upcoming English cricket season is highly unlikely to be conducted because of the Coronavirus.

The Coronavirus pandemic has caused huge losses to various entities across various fields around the world. The sporting community has also taken a huge hit. Almost all major sporting events have either been canceled or postponed at the moment.

However, former England captain Michael Vaughan believes that future tournaments will also take a hit and the entire English cricket summer is unlikely.

Vaughan told Fox League Live, “The most important thing when we start talking about sport is that it’s really secondary to what’s happening to many people around the world. Our season over here in England which starts June 4, that’s the international season against the West Indies, you have to say that’s looking very unlikely.”

“The Aussies come over for a few one-dayers in July. Again, that looks unlikely. And then we have The Hundred launch at the end of July so there’s a lot here you have to think is going to be under massive threat,” he added.

The only men’s ICC event this year is the T20 World Cup in October in Australia. That tournament is a few months away and one expects everything to be back to normal by then and nobody actually knows the extent of this pandemic.

Vaughan has a similar opinion on it and really hopes that the mega event takes place unscathed but does not really know what to expect.

The 45-year-old said, “You would hope it’s going to be okay by then but you just don’t know. These are unprecedented times. The advice that we’re getting here is changing daily. Only two weeks ago we were all thinking it was just a really bad case of the flu, then a few days later reality started to sink in for many of us that it was a lot worse than that.”
