With all international sporting events suffering due to the global coronavirus pandemic, former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has offered hopes for all the sports lovers, saying sport will rise again, but for now “it's about everyone staying safe and finding a way through” from this crisis.

McCullum said that the present situation is very tough for everyone, as the (COVID-19) has not only took a huge toll on sporting events, including the cricketing world all around the world but also claimed over 8000 lives while millions are fighting for lives against this deadly virus.

In the wake of panic created by COVID-19 across the world, McCullum went on to social media on Wednesday (March 18) to express his condolences on the current situation, saying his thoughts with all those around the world right now dealing with the health crisis.

The current Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coach also admitted that our generation is facing the never-seen medically and economically challenging time due to the pandemic.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, McCullum reacted to the coronavirus pandemic: “Thoughts with all those around the world right now. The sport will rise again in time but for now, it's about everyone staying safe and finding a way through. Medically and economically we are being challenged more than our generation has ever been before but we will find a way.”

Noteworthy, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has on Wednesday canceled all community cricket programs, including clubs and schools, for the rest of the season to stop the virus from spreading in the country. Earlier, the NZC had also canceled the last two rounds of the domestic Plunket Shield competition as a precaution against the life-threatening virus.
