Virat Kohli, Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, has urged everyone to stay strong and take all precautionary measures to fight the global coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday (March 12), the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic while the total count of India coronavirus cases has jumped to 83 with two deaths so far.
As the COVID-19 infected cases have been increasing rapidly in the country, the Indian Government has banned the visas till April 15, as well as, asked for the sports events to be held behind closed doors to prevent the life-threatening virus from spreading.
On Friday (March 13), Virat Kohli was seen coming out of the Lucknow airport wearing the black-colored face mask and later went on to social media to urge people to “stay strong and fight outbreak” as the coronavirus pandemic has already claimed lives of over 5,000 people across the globe.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, Kohli wrote: “Let’s stay strong and fight the #COVID19 outbreak by taking all precautionary measures. Stay safe, be vigilant and most importantly remember, prevention is better than cure. Please take care, everyone.”
Noteworthy, the deadly virus has taken a huge toll on sporting events across the globe with many competitions either being postponed or taking place behind closed doors and the BCCI also called off the ongoing home South Africa series on Friday.
India also postponed the start of the IPL 2020 from March 29 to April 15, though, the fate of the tournament is still in danger due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
