BCCI VP Mahim Verma set to resign from his post

Verma has won elections for secretary post in Cricket Association of Uttarakhand.

Mahim Verma with BCCI President Sourav GangulyMahim Verma, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to resign from his post after he was elected as the secretary at the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand.

Verma was appointed vice-president last year and had filed his nomination on February 28 for the elections at the state association. He won 32-14 for the secretary’s post, defeating competition from Sanjay Gusain.

"The love for Uttarakhand cricket and my desire to improve the cricketing infrastructure in the state has brought me back as secretary of the CAU. Our state board will work as a team to improve the cricketing standards of Uttarakhand," Verma told TOI.

"I will have a discussion with BCCI members and others regarding it. As per the Lodha Committee's recommendations, I can't hold two posts. Therefore, I will give my resignation as BCCI VP very soon," Verma added.

The Indian cricket board will hold a fresh election for the vice president's post 45 days after Verma officially resigns. Rajiv Shukla, the former IPL chairman is seen as the front-runner for the position provided he satisfies the qualification criteria.
