The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan after Karachi reportedly hit by the deadly coronavirus outburst this week. Amid coronavirus fears, the BCB is all set to have a meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) before making a final call on Bangladesh's final leg of the Pakistan tour next month.
The BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has revealed that the board officials will be discussing the situation in Pakistan with the PCB before making the call for the tour.
He also made it clear that the BCB will not compromise players’ safety and could opt out of the tour if there is any in coronavirus threat in Pakistan.
The comments came after the reports emerged that all educational institutions in Sindh were instructed by the government to remain closed till March 13 during the isolation period following the two coronavirus cases emerging in Karachi this week.
It is also reported that a total of five coronavirus cases have been five confirmed in Pakistan with two in Karachi. Yunus told Cricbuzz on Tuesday (March 3), “For us, players' safety comes as the first priority and we are not going to compromise with it at any cost.”
The official further added, “We will talk with PCB in this regard and if we see that there is any threat then certainly we will not send our team to Pakistan. But at the moment it is too early to make a decision in this regard as we still have time on our hands.”
Noteworthy, Bangladesh’s final leg of the Pakistan tour is scheduled for the one-off ODI on April 3 followed by the second and final Test on April 5.
