India will shortly have the world's largest cricket stadium as the new Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad is ready to host matches. The stadium, with around 110,000 seating capacity, will be inaugurated by US President Donald Trump.
Sharing the aerial view of the stadium, BCCI wrote, "#MoteraStadium Ahmedabad, India ???????? Seating capacity of more than 1,10,000 World's largest #Cricket stadium."

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly responded to the tweet and said the ground reminds him of Eden Gardens when it also had the capacity of over a lakh.
“Lovely to see such a massive, pretty stadium .. Ahmedabad .. have great memories in this ground as a player, captain ..grew up at Eden with hundred thousand capacity .. (not anymore).. can’t wait to see this on 24th,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
The Sardar Patel Stadium is getting renovated. It was first built in 1982 and hosted an international cricket match a year later in 1983.
One T20I, 12 Test matches, and 24 ODIs have been played in the ground before the reconstruction. The last match played on this ground was between India and Sri Lanka in November 2014.
