As per a report published in Ahmedabad Mirror, the list to be forwarded to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) that will pick the new chairman of selectors may not feature Sivaramakrishnan’s name.
Sources in the BCCI have revealed to the same newspaper that Sivaramakrishnan’s application has not been received by the board. It comes as a surprise for everyone considering that the cricketer-turned-commentator was being backed by the members of South Zone.
On January 18, the BCCI had released a recruitment notification for the position of national selectors with only two spots to be filled in the senior panel vacated by incumbent chairman MSK Prasad and his colleague Gagan Khoda. The last date for application submission was January 24.
Sources close to Sivaramakrishnan have confirmed that he had sent his application to the email id mentioned in the BCCI advertisement. Therefore, it can be said that he may have missed the cut in the scrutiny. Other favourites for the same position like Venkatesh Prasad and Ajit Agarkar feature in the list.
The BCCI is expected to forward the shortlisted candidates to Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik after the apex council meeting in Delhi on February 16.
