Nepal's 15-year-old batsman Kushal Malla became the youngest cricketer to score an ODI half-century in men's cricket. The southpaw made his debut against the United States of America (USA) and smashed a 51-ball 50 in a World Cup League 2 match near Kathmandu on Sunday.

Previously, Nepal's Rohit Kumar Paudel had the record by his name. He scored the half-century at an age of 16 years and 146 days.

Kushal's innings came when Nepal was 5 down on 49 runs. He and Binod Bhandari (59) put up a partnership of 84 runs. Nepal ended up scoring 190 in 49.2 overs and in reply, they bowled out the USA on 155 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar is among the youngest cricketers to score a fifty in men's cricket. He was 16 years and 214 days when he made a half-century in a Test against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 1989.

Kushal has played three T20Is for Nepal. He made his international debut for Nepal against UAE last year in October. But in two innings, the youngster scored only 7 runs, 5 being the highest.
