Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs praised Virat Kohli and called him the best India batsman of the current time. His tweet came after a fan asked him to name the all-time and current India great.
Gibbs didn't name both separately. His answer to both the questions was the same. "Kohli," was his reply.

Only a few people know, Virat admires Gibbs a lot, and the respect is mutual. During the U19 World Cup 2008, Kohli had said in his introduction video that his favorite cricketer is Gibbs. His words were: “Virat Kohli, captain, right-handed middle-order batsman, right-arm quick bowler, and my favorite cricketer is Herschelle Gibbs.”
The ex-Proteas batsman has lauded Virat in the past too. “Sachin (Tendulkar) was obviously great, but imagine what he could have done if he was as fit as Kohli. I can’t remember one Indian of the past era who can be termed fit.
"Ajay Jadeja wasn’t bad. I guess the past generation never had the hunger to keep themselves fit,” said Gibbs who was in Chennai for a promotional event four years back.
The Indian cricket team is currently doing a fine job under the leadership of Virat. They whitewashed New Zealand by 5-0 in the T20I series.
