The second Test of the two-match series between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka that was played in Harare ended up in a draw as Sri Lanka decided to bat out the day rather than go after the target of 361 runs.
Zimbabwe, after making 406 in the first innings, thanks to 107 from captain Sean Williams, declared the second innings on 247/7 with Brendan Taylor making 67 and Williams following up with 53*. Vishwa Fernando picked 2/43 whole Embuldeniya picked 2 wickets to add to his first-innings tally of 4 scalps. The rain had marred the fourth day’s play and Lanka just had to bat out the fifth day, which they did.
Oshada Fernando made 47, but the star of the Lankan innings was Kusal Mendis, who made 116* with 13 fours and 1 six off 233 balls in 291 minutes. Sri Lanka crawled their way to 204/3 in 87 overs and the match ended in a draw. Sikandar Raza added one more wicket to his tally of seven in the match, while Mumba and Nyauchi picked one scalp each as well.
