Just when fans thought it's all over for MS Dhoni after he was not included in the BCCI's latest list of annual contracts, the former India captain was seen practicing with Jharkhand Ranji Trophy squad on Thursday.

The news of Dhoni back to nets has left everyone surprised. Even the Jharkhand team management wasn't expecting the 38-year-old to join the practice session. They were unaware of his arrival.

"Even we did not know that he was going to come and train with us. It was a pleasant surprise. He batted for a while and did the usual training routine, " a source close to the Jharkhand team management told PTI.

"We are expecting him to train with the team regularly from now on. His presence can only help the players," the source added.

Dhoni is practicing with the white ball as he bought a brand new bowling machine for his training. The rest of the Jharkhand players did the routine red-ball training. Jharkhand's regular wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan isn't with the team.. He has joined the India A squad for New Zealand tour.

The next match for Jharkhand is against Uttrakhand in Ranchi on Sunday.
