Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who is playing for Sri Lanka in the T20I series against Bangladesh at home, just picked up his first T20I hat-trick in the second T20I at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Bangladesh batted first and made 100 runs in first 10 overs thanks to Imrul Kayes (36) and Soumya Sarkar (34), got even more impetus with Shakib making 38 runs. Malinga came on to bowl the 19th over of the match and faced a rampaging Musfiqur Rahim.
Rahim was bowled with a trademark slow in-dipper by Malinga for 15 runs. Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza was dismissed for a golden duck in his final T20I by a Malinga yorker. Young Mehedi Hasan came out to face the hat-trick ball and was greeted by another slower in-dipper by Malinga. Mehedi was caught right in front of the stumps and umpire gave him out. Malinga got his first T20I hat-trick and fourth international hat-trick.
