Rishabh Pant to hone his wicketkeeping skills under the guidance of specialist coach, says MSK Prasad

Pant has been criticized for his keeping skills at top level.

Rishabh Pant's poor wicketkeeping has been in limelight | ScreengrabRishabh Pant has been named the successor of MS Dhoni in the limited-overs format for the Indian team but has been on the receiving end of faulty keeping technique and low confidence behind the stumps. He missed three catches in the Cuttack ODI against the West Indies and was once again in limelight.

Fans have been clamoring for the BCCI to give Sanju Samson a chance behind the stumps or bring back MS Dhoni thanks to Pant’s poor keeping and batting. Though Pant did well with the bat, scoring a valiant fifty in the first ODI against the Windies, his glovework has been below par, to say the least.

Farokh Engineer suggests Rishabh Pant to work on his flawed wicket-keeping technique

It seems like the BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has heard the crowd, as he announced that Rishabh Pant will work under the guidance of a specialist keeping coach to improve his keeping skills. "Pant needs to improve his keeping skills. We will have him work under a specialist wicket-keeping coach," Prasad told reporters.

Though Pant has received a lot of backing from the selection committee, things are getting rough for the 22-year-old, as he has often struggled to keep to spinners with commentators highlighting his flaws on air and it seems the BCCI feels its time to get some help to get Pant back on his feet. He has been criticized consistently and home crowds chanted MS Dhoni's name when Pant had an ordinary outing behind the wickets in the recently-concluded series against Bangladesh and the West Indies.
