'Virat Kohli the batsman' and 'run-chases' has been the story of the decade for Team India. The Indian skipper has broken a lot of records in this decade and has topped the batting charts. Let's have a look where Kohli stood in this decade.

The legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar retired from the game in the first half of the decade and it was the emergence of Virat Kohli that kept the standards of Indian cricket so high. Kohli became the batsman he is today, after taking inspiration from his predecessor, Sachin Tendulkar.

His numbers in ODI cricket speak for themselves and give a fair idea about where the 31-year-old stands today.

His numbers in ODIs in this decade are as follows:

- Most runs (11,125)

- Most hundreds (42)

- Most fifties (52)

- Most ‘Man of the Match’ awards (35)

- Most ‘Man of the Series’ awards (7)

- Most fours (1,038)

- Most catches as a fielder (117)

- Most matches (227)

Virat Kohli won his first World Cup as a player in 2011. However, even after dominating the entire year in 2019, he felt disappointed for not grabbing those crunch moments in the semi-final of the World Cup 2019.

He said, “2019 has been one of the best years for Indian cricket. Apart from the 30 minutes in the World Cup, it’s been a great year. We’ll keep chasing that ICC trophy. But apart from that, the way we’ve played has been satisfying. Having a bunch of fast bowlers who can bowl out any opposition anywhere - them taking the attention away from the spinners in India is a huge achievement.
